Holiday cottage photography from ACT Studios in Dorset, Hampshire and Devon

It’s been a busy few months here at ACT Studios Photography and we have been lucky enough to photograph some absolutely wonderful properties, right across the UK, as the summer draws to a close.

Our most recent work has taken us to the West Country, down to Devon and Dorset, as well as over to Hampshire. All stunning parts of the UK, for many and varied reasons.

Hospitality photography in the autumn

Although the days are shorter and much less warm now, from a photography point of view, the warm, autumn light at this time of year can really help capture the spirit of your property.

And given your guests will appreciate viewing your property in all seasons, autumnal photography allows you to showcase what makes your accommodation special at this time of year.

Think roaring log fires. Late summer blooms in the garden or acers turning red and gold. Or early autumn mist across the fields as the day warms up. Whatever your view, now is a great time of year to refresh your imagery.

Character Farm Cottages in Dorset

Our Dorset trip took us down to Character Farm Cottages, which are located on the Dorset coast, near the towns of Weymouth and Dorchester.

Run by Ann Mayo and her daughter Jane Elwood, Character Farm Cottages comprise seven self-catering holiday cottages in total and are run as a long standing family business (they’ve been running for over 35 years!)

All the cottages are unique in their own ways, from cosy one bedroom properties for romantic getaways to a five-bedroom property perfect for family get-togethers.

Guests clearly love Character Farm, evident by those returning time and time again to enjoy the wonderful hospitality:

“Friendly family run immaculate cottages. Over the years we have been six times and never have we been disappointed. Looking forward to visit number seven already.

Good local friendly pubs for food plus the gardens at Abbotsbury have a decent menu. Various points on the road from Abbotsbury to Lyme Regis worth a visit.”

ACT photographer Hannah Hunter led this shoot, from which we produced high resolution digital imagery as well as 3D immersive tours of the cottages.

Hannah commented “I personally loved the wonderful stone fireplace in the Farmhouse, a really lovely feature and perfect to cosy up to in the winter.

“I also loved the beautiful gardens in Chelsea Cottage, which would be perfect to sit out in and enjoy the sunshine in the summer months – you can tell the owners put a lot of love and care into both the interior and exteriors of these cottages.”

Country Ways in Devon

Country Ways is a peaceful converted farm, surrounded by its own fields and woodland, with spectacular views of the glorious North Devon countryside.

Set in over 40 acres of private grounds, it also features six stone cottages which have been tastefully converted from the original stables and barns.

Country Ways has recently changed ownership and its lovely new owners have been putting a huge amount of time and energy into revamping the cottages ready for new guests.

ACT Studios has been helping them update their 3D 360 video tours, still photography and website.

Photographer Hannah particularly fell for the wonderful scenery, saying “I love how cosy and snug all these cottages are and how amazing the views are too! Every cottage has an incredible view looking across North Devon and is a dream if you love the rural countryside.

“As well as the cottages, they also have a new games room and even offer an amazing wedding venue – complete with rustic decorations and full use of all the cottages.”

Riverside Lodge in Hampshire

For those looking for a romantic retreat, we can definitely recommend Riverside Lodge in Hampshire!

We were recently asked to photograph this two bedroom, two bathroom cedar clad lodge on the bank of the Hampshire Avon. And to be honest, it was a real pleasure to visit this unusual location!

The lodge, which is set within the New Forest National Park, has a large open plan living area, complete with wood burner, perfect for chillier winter evenings.

But it’s the views that make photographing it a real treat as it literally faces out over a small lake, in an elevated location just yards from the river. Perfect for those who love fishing or fresh water swimming!

Our photographer Russell noted that that it’s also an incredible location for sunsets across the river, meadows and ancient woodland.

And to top it all, there is also a hot tub and wonderful welcome pack, full of local produce!
